Caving 

Unique to BAC, our artificial cave has three large caverns, two rivers, a waterfall and over 200 meters of twisting passageways. Entry and exit is by crawling, abseiling, climbing and even swimming! It comes complete with stalactites, stalagmites, boulder chokes, cave paintings and fossils. Routes through the cave can be tailored to fit people of different shapes, sizes and levels of mobility. This fun, safe and totally unique activity is sure to keep everyone captivated.

High Ropes 

The high ropes traverse course takes you on an exciting journey above our Adventure Learning Park. Negotiating  your way around a precarious mixture of wobbling ropes , swinging logs and a short zip line this will definitely get your adrenaline pumping. 

 

Climbing/Bouldering

Scale the routes on our 10 metre wooden tower or clamber up the Vertical Challenge and Leap of Faith.  Then abseil or leap from the top! Learn how to conquer your fears and develop the skills to climb like a Ninja! Closer to the ground, practice moving skillfully and efficiently , as you traverse the bouldering wall. You can come and just have fun or even progress towards a nationally recognised qualification.

Low Ropes 

It's all about balance, teamwork and concentration on our low level obstacle courses. 

Try getting all of your team safely through the giant spiders web without touching the strands. Or navigate your way around the night-line while wearing a blindfold. It's never as simple as you think! 

 

Mountain Biking 

Our centre in Barnett's Demesne is surrounded by excellent mountain bike trails. You can have lots of fun honing your skills with our expert instructors. From beginner through to intermediate level we can help  you progress through the green, blue and red trails including the new e Trails! We can also take groups further afield into the forests of Tollymore and lakeside trails of Castlewellan.

Archery 

Bring out your inner Robin Hood / Lara Croft and learn how to wield a bow like a warrior! You can learn all the basic skills of stance, aiming, how to hold the bow and  release the arrow and of course the all important safety aspects of working with a lethal weapon! It's a great sport to learn for people of all abilities,  with many opportunities to progress through local clubs.  

 

Orienteering or Geo-Caching 

Put your detective skills to use, get out in the fresh air and explore Barnett's Demesne whilst racing against the clock to follow the clues and complete an orienteering or geo-caching challenge.

Bushcraft

Are you ready for the wilderness? Learn new skills for survival in the outdoors from building shelters,  starting a campfire  with natural  materials and no matches, to cooking a meal outdoors. You can even carve your own cooking utensils! 

 
 

Team Games

Get your team thinking and engaging with each other in a way they haven't before! We are experts in teamwork training and guidance.  This works well with any type of group. From a small youth group to a large company!

Water Sport

Select from a range of different watercraft and go paddling down the River Lagan. We run our sessions from The BAC Boat House which is at Shaws Bridge. BAC has canoes and kayaks and can also provide offsite wet bouldering at Bloody Bridge. 

 

Secure Youth Camping

At our residential centre on the edge of the Mourne Mountains, we have a secure camping area in our walled garden. With easy access to water, toilets and showers it's a great place to introduce young groups to a camping experience. There are also sheltered areas for communal fires and beautiful woodlands to explore. Combine your visit with an activity session or simply take in the scenery. Ideal for DofE and other youth groups.

Mobile Adventure

With our mobile climbing wall, mountain bikes and canoes, we can bring the adventure to you! If you are a school or community group we can erect the climbing wall in your car park or playground.

 

Residential 

Book your residential accommodation or camping through BAC and stay at our amazing outdoor centre in Newcastle with easy access to Tollymore and the Mourne Mountain range. This centre has over 6 acres of specially developed woodland including fire pits, tree climbing, archery orienteering, geocaching and access to nearby rock climbing and wet bouldering.

Training courses and qualifications 

Belfast Activity Centre can tailor courses to your individual needs. Our charity status means that the costs will be low but you can be assured that our professionalism and expertise are extremely high.

The Boat House 

The Boat House is located right on the River Lagan beside Shaw's Bridge.

This allows BAC to have access straight onto the water, ideal for either a leisurely paddle or some wild white water adventures down through the rapids. Check out our water sport activities to find out more.

 

Adventure Learning Park (ALP)

The Belfast Adventure Learning Park, funded by Big Lottery, is based in the heart of Barnett's Stable Yard. The combination of activities, stand alone team games and initiative tasks ensure that groups of all ages and abilities are motivated, stimulated and challenged physically and mentally.
