Phil

Phil Maxwell - Instructor

Phil's youthwork and teaching background, plus over 13 years as a Scout leader provides him with the grounding for role at BAC. His qualifications include B.Ed (Hons), MLC, RCD Ropes Course Open Instructor Award and GNAT Leader. When not caving or hanging around on ropes, Phil enjoys spending time in the hills with his dog and off road driving.


Andy

Andy McSparron - Instructor

Andy has been volunteering at BAC for over 5 years. His roles include helping out in the abseils and the upkeep of the centres resources and buildings. Andy has been involved with young people for many years and he brings many skills and crafts to the centre.


 

Juls Ormbsy

Juls Ormsby - Instructor

Juls is currently in her 3rd year at Stranmillis completing a degree in Health and Leisure Studies. She loves playing sports and has a great passion for the outdoors, weather that be in a boat or on the hills!


 

Raey Price

Raey Price - Instructor

Raey has been a volunteer with BAC for over 5 years now and has recently started working as a part time member of staff.

During the 5 years, Raey has worked with the Duke of Edinburgh Award programme, activity days, abseils, disability programmes and is on the eRathlin Run Committee which raises money for the Centre.

These days Raey can be seen crawling about in the caves at ALP!



John McCune

John McCune - Instructor

John has been a member of the BAC part time staff for nearly two years now and you will find him leading various activities onsite. He is a very keen climber and has his SPA along with various other outdoor qualifications such as ML, TCL (Trail Cycle Leaders) and is a Level 2 kayak and canoe coach. When he is not working John can be found climbing various routes both at home and abroad.


 

Chrisie Dunn

Chrisie Dunn - Instructor

Chrisie has worked part time for the Centre for two years now after completing a BA in Outdoor Education. She also holds a number of outdoor qualifications. Chrisie is also a keen climber and can be found in her spare time climbing in various areas in N. Ireland and beyond.


 

Chris Logan

Chris Logan - Instructor

Chris has been involved with the Centre for 3 years as both a volunteer and a part time member of staff. Chris can be found working on many activities at the Centre including caving and climbing. He will be leaving us in September to study medicine at Cambridge, but will be back at the Centre during his holidays!

 


 

Nicky McGowan

Niky Magowan - Instructor

Nicky joined the Centre staff team in 2007 as a volunteer and then as a part time member of staff. Nicky is currently going into her second year at St. Mary's College studing primary teaching.

Nicky in her spare time is a very keen climber and can over be found on various rock faces in the Mournes!

 


 

Scotty McFarland

Scotty McFarland - Instructor
 
Scotty joined the BAC team in September 2007 as a volunteer and in May 2008 became a part time member of the staff team. He has a range of outdoor qualifications such as RYA level 2 Power Boating and is currently working towards his 3 star Open boat award.
 
Scotty is currently studying a BSC (Hons) in Geography at the University of Ulster in Coleraine. In his spare time, scotty is a scout leader and also works in his church as a youth leader, he also enjoys paddling, sailing and powerboating.

 


 

Michael Gibson

Michael Gibson - Instructor

Michael has been with BAC for a year full time. He works as an activity instructor with the groups that come to use the centre. He also assists the other staff with their projects including Disability groups with Nicola and Young Carers with Raymond. His qualifications include REC Advanced First Aid and Grand National Archery Instructor. His outdoor interests include Mountain Biking, Hill Walking, Climbing and Canoeing.

 


 

Enda Young

Enda Young - Community Relations Project Worker

Enda has been involved with BAC for the past two years developing the Centre's Community Relations programmes. Enda started with us on a GAP placement through the Rank Foundation while completing an TA in "Theory, Culture and Identity" at Queens University. Enda is now utlilising his expertise to continue the excellent work in the field of Community Relations and addressing issues of identity through the medium of outdoor activity.

Enda also has a passion for paddlesport and has been assisting in the progression of paddlesport in the centre. He also works part-time as an instructor for Belfast ALP. Enda recently headed to South Africa for six weeks to look at conflict, identity and outdoor learning thanks to winning a Fellowship from the Winston Churchill Trust.
