Gold Award

The Gold Section is run by Alison Brown and Colleen Mann.

Alison and Colleen have both been working at Gold for a few years now and have helped to facilitate expeditions to the Lake District and the Dauphine Alps.

The Gold Award has 5 sections that need to be completed:

Service

Skills

Physical Recreation

Expeditions

Residential

12 months

One Section for 12 months and the other Section for 6 months

Plan, prepare for and undertake a 4 day, 3 night venture

Undertake a shared activity in a residential setting away from home for 5 days and 4 nights

On Tuesday evenings BAC will be training you towards the Expedition section of your Gold Award, and will give you advice on the other sections.

What is expected from you at Gold:

  • Participants will provide their own 1:25000 Map of the Mournes and Silva Type 4 compass
  • Participants will work on their other sections themselves
  • Participants will attend every Tuesday evening for training
  • All day walks are compulsory and must be completed if you would like to do your expedition
  • All practice expeditions are compulsory and must be completed if you would like to do your expedition
